Tips for Celebrating
With this year's National Employee Benefits Day focus on communicating benefits we encourage you to use the day to inform your plan participants about all the important and valuable benefits you offer.
Consider:
- Hosting a lunch-and-learn program led by your Benefits Team
- Sending out all-staff emails or paycheck stuffers that communicate your benefits program
- Bringing in a guest speaker to talk on a specific aspect of your plan's health care or retirement offerings
- Hosting fun games or quizzes on the benefits you offer
- Holding benefits Q&A sessions, for large groups or one-on-one
- Surveying your staff about the benefits you currently offer or benefits you're thinking about offering in the future
- Communicating to staff the monetary value of their benefits package (we bet they'll be surprised!)
- Consider celebrating the day by adding a new benefit to your package. There are many benefits that can be offered for little to no cost while adding value to your program such as:
- Walking programs
- Arranging for employee discounts at local gyms and fitness centers
- Arranging for an on-site nutrition/weight-loss program
- Casual-dress Fridays
- Pizza lunches
- Ice cream sundaes in summer
- Spot awards, such as gas cards or movie ticket vouchers
- Time off for volunteer work
- Flexible work hours (such as compressed work weeks) and telecommuting
- Allowing employees to bring children in on Take Your Child to Work Day
- Employee discounts on company products
- Employee discounts at other retailers
- Employee memberships to discount warehouses (like Sam’s Club or Costco)
- Reference and referral services for child and elder care
- Nap room
