Brookfield, Wisconsin—Part of a trustee’s fiduciary responsibility is to ensure that the terms of the collective bargaining agreement are upheld. A key factor in this process is to make certain that a payroll audit is conducted.
The new book, Payroll Auditing: A Guide for Multiemployer Plans, written by Lawrence R. Beebe and Philip Vivirito, provides guidance for both those who are responsible for payroll audits and those who perform payroll audits of multiemployer employee benefit plans.
“To date, there has been little guidance for conducting payroll audits of multiemployer plans” says Lawrence R. Beebe, Partner with the accounting firm of Bond Beebe. “This book helps trustees to fulfill their fiduciary duty by providing them with the best practices in payroll auditing.”
Payroll Auditing: A Guide for Multiemployer Plans covers selecting employers to be audited, the roles of the parties involved, contents of the audit file, preparing an audit report, and collecting and preventing delinquent employer contributions. The “how-to” guide emphasizes efficient and effective payroll auditing.
