Q.  Do I have to work for a CLHIA company to take a Primer course?

A.  No.  The Primers were designed for the Canadian insurance industry, but registration is open to anyone.

Q. Can I take the Primer(s) or the Introduction courses even if I do not plan to continue with the GBA or the RPA at this time?

A. Yes.

Q. What is the difference between the Canadian Group Benefits Primer Course and the Introduction to Group Benefits in Canada course?

A. The Introduction to Group Benefits Canada is taken from the Canadian Group Life and Health Online Primer course developed by Dalhousie University specifically for those selling group insurance products and services.  Unlike the Primer course, this course does not include those modules addressing the specifics on the Life Cycle of Group Benefit Plans covering prospecting, quoting/proposing/selling, implementing and servicing to termination.

Q.  What is the difference between the Canadian Group Retirement Plans Primer Course and the Introduction to Group Retirement Plans in Canada Course?

 

A.  The Introduction to Group Retirement Plans in Canada is taken from the Canadian Group Retirement Plans Online Primer Course developed by Dalhousie University specifically for those selling group retirement products and services.  Unlike the Primer Course, this course does not include those modules addressing the specifics on the Life Cycle of a Capital Accumulation Plan Account covering prospecting, quoting/proposing/selling, implementing and service to termination from the insurer’s perspective. 

Q. I registered online for a course, but I haven't received any further information or instructions.  What should I do?

A. Confirmation emails with complete access instructions are sent out when your registration has been processed. Registrations will be processed within three business days after receipt.  If this time has passed and you have not received anything from us, check your email filters to make sure our email has not been filtered, marked as “spam” or otherwise blocked.  Email filters are often very sensitive to unfamiliar addresses or domains, so please be sure to add cancebs@ifebp.org” to your “safe senders” list to prevent this from happening.  If you still haven’t received anything from us, contact us at cancebs@ifebp.org or (800) 449-2327 option 3, to make sure that we have your correct email address. 

Q. What is the best browser for viewing your online courses?

A. For the best performance we highly recommend that you use Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher when taking any of our online courses.

Q. I'm having technical problems. What should I do?

A. First, try to determine the source of the problem. If the problem only happens with this site or with one page on this site there may be browser incompatibilities. We use cookies, session variables and JavaScript on our site; please make sure they are enabled in your browser. The site is also password protected which may cause a problem for some firewall settings. Please test these possibilities before contacting us. If you believe there is a problem with our pages or servers, please contact us using the feedback form.

Q. Once I start a module, can I leave it?

A. Yes. A cookie will be placed on your computer that will remember where you left off. When you return to the module it will automatically show the last page you viewed.

Q. Do I need to complete the modules in a specific order?

A. No, however, the modules are designed to flow sequentially and may be best understood taking them in the order presented.

Q. I have a question about the content of the course. Is there someone that can help me?

A. Yes, our program coordinator can answer your question or pass it on to a subject matter expert to get an answer for you. You may use the feedback form for this purpose.

Q How long will I have access to the course?

A. You will have access to the course and test for 180 days from the date of registration. 

Q.  Can I earn Continuing Education Credit from this course?

A.   Yes.  Insurance professionals licensed in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Ontario can use the Group Life and Health Primer to meet continuing education requirements.  Each province accepts 15 credit hours when the test is passed.  Alberta accepts 15 hours of life and accident and sickness credit.  Quebec has assigned recognition number CSF07-04-15472 to the Group Life and Health Online Primer course and awards 15 continuing education units (PDUs) in Sector 3-Group Insurance of Persons.  CEBS is currently seeking approval for the Introduction to Group Benefits Course, the Retirement Online Primer Course and the Introduction to Group Retirement Plans Course.
