GBA 1–Principles of Group Benefits

 
This is a required course for the GBA and CEBS designations.

GBA 1 is scheduled to be revised in Fall 2012 for the December exam. It will feature a revised Learning Guide and the revised edition of Canadian Group Insurance Benefits textbook.  If you wish to test with the current study materials, plan to write the exam in Spring 2012.

This course emphasizes the concepts and principles to be considered in the development, implementation and management of life, health and other group benefits provided by employers and unions. Among the topics covered are group insurance fundamentals, general design issues, mathematics of insurance, the pricing process, underwriting and funding methods, administration, communication and ethics.
