GBA 1 – Principles of Group Benefits

 
Sheila Phillips, B.A., CEBS, FLMI, National Account Manager, Great West Life Assurance Co.; Group Division, Sales. Ms Phillips works closely with teams in sales, underwriting, administration, marketing and communications, as well as with her clients’ finance, management and marketing staff.  She earned her CEBS designation in 2002 and has been instructing online courses since 2009.

Cindy Arcand, CEBS, CHRP, Employee Benefits & Retirement Programs, Alberta Health Services.   She was previously a Senior Negotiator with the City of Edmonton, Labour Relations, Human Resources.  Ms. Arcand earned the CEBS designation in 1991 and has instructed CEBS courses since 1993 in formal class settings at the University of Alberta.  She has been instructing online classes since 1999.

Patricia J. Noble, CEBS, CCP, Compensation and Classification consultant, Office of Human Resources, New Brunswick.  During her studies, Trish’s focus was on finance; investment theory, multi-national finance, and financial markets and institutions. She started her career as a human resource generalist, providing services in recruitment, job evaluation, attendance management, mediation and labour relations management.  The division's mandate is to manage a number of pension and employee benefit plans for the public service employees and retirees.  Trish is an active participant on the government's standing committee on insured benefits, a committee comprised of union and employer representatives, affecting thousands of public service employees and former employees. She began instructing CEBS online courses in 2011.

Dr. Albert Ototé  has extensive experience as an academic on several levels.  He has taught business and management courses at several Universities and Colleges, internationally, with a range of students from baccalaureate to MBA through doctoral.  He has also taught students in professional certification programs such as CEBS, OMDP, and CHRP for over 20 years at various continuing education facilities. Dr. Ototé holds a doctoral degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix, U.S., with specializations in entrepreneurial orientation and organizational effectiveness. Dr. Ototé began instructing online CEBS courses in 2011.

Matthew Simon, HGBA, CHRP
, Principal Consultant, Simon & Associates, a general Human Resources management practice  that provides management support and services for a variety of clients in the manufacturing, technology, non-profit, and service sectors.  Prior to establishing his private practice, Mr. Simon’s corporate career included several progressive positions with Sharp Electronics of Canada Ltd., Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Inc., and Union Gas Limited.  He is on the Board of Directors of the Grand Valley Human Resources Professionals Association, including a term as President in 1998/99.  He has guest lectured on various Human Resources management topics at the Wilfrid Laurier University, the University of Waterloo, The Laurier Institute, and Conestoga College.  Mr. Simon has instructed CEBS courses online since 2002.

CMS 2 – Executive Compensation Management


Bonni Titgemeyer, CEBS, CMS, SPHR, CHRP, Managing Director of The Employers’ Choice Inc.  Ms. Titgemeyer has been in the human resources consulting field for more than eighteen years, in both a Canadian and international context. Her expertise is in development of practical solutions to human resources concerns, particularly in the areas of total compensation, legislative compliance, performance management and organizational effectiveness as well as designing human resources management programs in a variety of environments.  She serves as the Program Coordinator for the Human Resources Management Certificate Program at Sheridan Institute and is a member of the Toronto Consulting Advisory Group (CAG) of the Canadian Association of Family Enterprise (CAFE).  She earned the CEBS designation in 1999 and the CMS designation in 2004, and has been instructing online classes since that time.
