Review of Policies and Fees

The following information is an overview of the computer-based testing examination policies and fees. Complete details can be found in the CEBS Course Catalog.

You will select one of the four CEBS testing windows when filing an exam application.

  • #1--January 15 - March 15
  • #2--April 15 - June 15
  • #3--July 15 - September 15
  • #4--October 15 - December 15

Payment of the examination application fee establishes eligibility for one testing window.

CEBS Fees

Only CEBS registrants may file exam applications. CEBS fees are neither refundable nor transferable to another candidate.

Testing Appointments

Once you receive your examination confirmation letter from the CEBS program, you are eligible to make a testing appointment. Schedule your exam appointment online at www.prometric.com or by calling the Candidate Services Call Centre (CSCC) as soon as you receive your confirmation letter. The Examination Handbook that was sent with your confirmation letter contains complete information on scheduling and canceling testing appointments.

Have your confirmation letter available when making your appointment. Give the scheduler your CEBS registration number as it appears on your confirmation letter. Please note, your identification must match the name on file at the test center or you will not be permitted to test. Be certain that the test center scheduler repeats the date and time of your exam to avoid the possibility of being assessed a lost-computer-time penalty fee for a missed appointment.

Testing appointments can be changed or canceled (within the selected testing window) by calling the CSCC at (866) 793-2266 or online at www.prometric.com. Both are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No appointment changes are permitted after the deadlines.

Reschedule Policy

  1. There will be no charge to reschedule an exam appointment 13 or more business days before your scheduled test date.
  2. Rescheduling appointments between 3 and 12 business days before your scheduled test date will result in a $50 rescheduling fee assessed by Prometric .
  3. Rescheduling an exam appointment fewer than 3 business days before your scheduled test date or appearing more than 15 minutes late for an exam appointment will result in a lost computer time penalty fee.
  4. If you wish to reschedule an appointment into a future testing window, first cancel your current appointment within the time frame mentioned above, and then submit an exam extension application to move your exam eligibility to a future testing window before the exam window expires.

Cancel Policy

  1. There will be no charge to cancel an exam appointment 3 or more business days before your scheduled test date.
  2. Canceling an exam appointment fewer than 3 business days before your scheduled test date, failure to appear for a scheduled test, or appearing more than 15 minutes late for an exam appointment will result in a lost computer time penalty fee.
  3. If you wish to transfer an exam into a future testing window, first cancel your current appointment within the time frame mentioned above, and then submit an exam extension application to move your exam eligibility to a future testing window before the exam window expires.  After you receive the confirmation of your new eligibility period, you may schedule your new appointment following the procedures above.
  4. If you do not change or cancel your appointment on time, you will incur a lost computer time penalty fee.

You may not leave a voice mail messages at the test center when making, changing or rescheduling appointments.

To cancel or reschedule an exam appointment, please contact Prometric at (866) 793-2266 or www.prometric.com.

Calculator Policy

All Prometric Testing Centres are equipped with a supply of nonprogrammable, simple, handheld calculators which will be distributed by the test centre administrator at the start of an exam and collected at the end of testing. You will not be allowed to take your own personal calculator into an exam center.

Present value and future value tables are available online to those taking examinations for GBA1--Principles of Group Benefits and RPA 2--Asset Management. The calculator and present value and future value tables will permit you to perform all computations and calculations required for completion of the CEBS exams. The handheld calculator is a simple, mathematical calculator with basic arithmetic functions. It does not perform financial calculations; therefore, it is important for you to know how to compute future and present value computations using the present value and future value tables.

CEBS examination questions use short periods and simple interest assumptions that can be solved in the time available using the formulas (using either the tables provided online or by using the calculator provided at the exam site).
