Session Schedule
Held prior to the 41st Annual Canadian Employee Benefits Conference. Please note that all ATMS courses offered in Halifax will be held at the Delta Halifax Hotel.
Take your knowledge to the next level and earn another ATMS® certificate! ATMS® Part IV applies to both the ATMS® Certificate in Pension Fund Leadership and the ATMS® Certificate in Group Benefits Leadership.
Upon completion of ATMS® Part III Pensions and ATMS® Part IV, individuals will earn the ATMS® Certificate in Pension Fund Leadership. It is anticipated that ATMS® Part III Group Benefits will be available in 2009. ATMS® Part IV can be taken before ATMS® Part III. If you plan to complete both certificates, you do not need to take ATMS® Part IV twice.
ATMS® Part IV will be open only to those who have completed the ATMS® Certificate in Pension Fund Management or the ATMS® Certificate in Group Benefits Management. This course complements the existing ATMS® curriculum and is structured in a similar format. As with all offerings within the ATMS® program, you will receive valuable resource materials to take back to your fund.
ATMS® Part IV addresses governance through leadership, focusing on developing the leadership capacity of individual trustees and the board collectively. This course examines leadership competencies and the role of the board of trustees as orchestrators of change. The course considers two key elements of leadership: communications and ethics. Expert practitioners focus on converting legal obligations into communication opportunities and making the distinction between a communications policy and a communications strategy. Real-life case studies are presented that pose ethical challenges and test the limits of effective leadership.
To earn credit toward the ATMS® certificate, you must be present for the entire program, including group work. Please make your travel arrangements accordingly.
