Conference begins in:

ATMS focuses on the application and analysis of the four key knowledge areas of effective trust management, adding breadth and depth to what is learned in FTMS and deepening the pension and health and welfare application. Course materials consist of all on-site presentation materials, supplementary readings and additional information for future reference.

Earning Your ATMS Certificate of Achievement

To earn the ATMS Certificate of Achievement, you must complete four days of classroom attendance and accompanying online test(s). There are two ways to earn your certificate.

Full Program

Those choosing this format must take all four days in one location and one 60-question test.
Note: Four consecutive days is extremely intensive. Be prepared to cover a lot of in-depth material.

Session A and Session B

Those choosing this format must complete two separate courses and two 30-question tests.

  • This format is sequential—Session A, including successful completion of the accompanying test, is a prerequisite for Session B.

Educational Program Directors, Bryan Zoran and Justin Held, introduce Canadian Trustee Education with the FTMS and ATMS Programs.

Why You Should Attend

Trustees play an important role in addressing the health and retirement needs of plan members and need to be confident and competent in that role. ATMS helps trustees build upon their past education and practical experience by focusing on applying the knowledge gained to future decisions through engaging instruction and interactive case studies.

Who Should Attend

ATMS is the next step for those who have earned an FTMS Certificate of Achievement. It is also recommended for advanced-level appointed and elected multi-employer, public sector and corporate plan trustees of any type of trust as well as benefit office staff (see prerequisites section for more information). ATMS is applicable for trustees of both pension and health and welfare trust funds.

ATMS Test

Objective

The objective of the test is to validate that trustees have an understanding of key knowledge required for the effective management of trusts and the ability to find the answers they need and can apply that information to a variety of scenarios.

What to Expect

The number of tests you take depends on which format you choose:

  • Full Program—This refers to taking all four days of classroom instruction at one location. This format requires one 60-question test. Four consecutive days is extremely intensive. Be prepared to cover a lot of in-depth material.
  • Sessions A and B—This refers to taking the four days of classroom instruction in two, two-day sessions, in conjunction with the Annual Conference and select conferences. Each session will have one 30-question test. Completion of the Session A test is a prerequisite for enrolling in Session B.

The test(s) are online and open-book. They will be available within a specified window of time after course completion. The test(s) are included in the cost of your ATMS course registration.

A score of 70% or better is required to pass each test. Should you not pass a test, you will have an opportunity to retake it. One retake is included with your registration. If you do not pass on the second attempt, you can register for an additional retake at a reduced fee.

Successful completion of the test(s) is required to earn an ATMS Certificate of Achievement.

Scores

All test scores are confidential. The International Foundation will not notify your fund of your score; however, your board may have an educational policy that requires you to provide this type of information.
