Mr. Carlson is the managing principal of Carlson’s Consulting, a management consulting practice that provides clients nationwide with objective and unbiased advice on the cost-effective design and administration of welfare benefit plans by providing objective and unbiased advice. His expertise spans vendor performance audits, request for proposal (RFP) issuance/evaluation, quality improvement, insurance placement and on-site employee benefits training. Mr. Carlson was appointed to the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania’s advisory board on “Controlling Risk Segmentation Under Employment Based Medical Savings Accounts (MSAs),” serves on the CEBS Committee and has authored numerous articles on employee benefits. He is a fellow of ISCEBS, past president of its Governing Council and Chicago Chapter, has been quoted in various publications and interviewed on TV regarding HMO quality-of-care issues. Mr. Carlson teaches CEBS Courses 2 and 9 at the University of Houston, previously taught at Roosevelt University and is a certified continuing education provider for the Texas Department of Insurance. He is a certified management consultant (CMC), a fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants and a national director of the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC). Previously, Mr. Carlson held various senior management positions ranging from chief operating officer of a third-party administration (TPA)/managed care organization (MC) to marketing and managing employee benefit programs for 220,000 members with Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Additionally, he has designed, implemented and administered benefit plans in private industry.
