Joan is an enrolled actuary and president of Gucciardi Benefit Resources, Inc., a division of Summit Benefit and Actuarial Services, Inc. She has over 30 years of experience with retirement and benefit plans.
Joan co-authored The 401(k) Answer Book (Panel Publishers, 1992), 5500 Preparers' Manual (Panel Publishers, 2001), The Pension Distribution Answer Book (Panel Publishers, 2006) and The Plan Termination Answer Book (Panel Publishers, 2006). She is editor in chief of the Journal of Pension Benefits (Panel Publishers, 1993-2006). She is a former vice president and current board member of the American Society of Pension Actuaries.
Her professional designations include member of the American Society of Pension Actuaries (MSPA), member of the Americana Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), certified pension consultant (CPC), chartered life underwriter (CLU) and chartered financial consultant (ChFC). She is a former president of the Wisconsin Retirement Plan Professionals. She received an honors bachelor of science degree in mathematics from Marquette University.
