Mr. Ashton is a partner at Reish Luftman Reicher & Cohen, specializing in employee benefits. His practice focuses on all aspects of employee benefits issues, including representing plans, sponsors and service providers before IRS and DOL; advising service providers, financial advisers and plan providers on fiduciary and prohibited transaction issues under ERISA; as well as structuring qualified plans, including employee stock ownership plans and nonqualified deferred compensation arrangements. Mr. Ashton is co-author with Fred Reish on three books, including the Plan Correction Answer Book and the Participant Directed Investment Answer Book as well as numerous articles on employee benefits topics. He was president of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA) and is listed in Best Lawyers in America. Mr. Ashton received his B.A. degree from Rice University and his J.D. from Southern Methodist University, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif.
