BLS Reports on Employer Costs for Employee Compensation, September 2011

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released a report, Employer Costs for Employee Compensation, September 2011. Employer costs for employee compensation averaged $30.11 per hour worked in September 2011. Wages and salaries averaged $20.91 (69.4 percent of costs) and benefits averaged $9.21 (30.6 percent). Legally required benefits averaged $2.36 per hour (7.8 percent). Insurance benefits averaged $2.67 per hour (8.9 percent).
