Minister of Finance Canada Introduces Financial Literacy Leader Act

The Minister of Finance Canada introduced the Financial Literacy Leader Act to provide for the appointment of a Financial Literacy Leader and set the duties, powers and functions of the position. The Act would also expand the responsibilities of the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada to include collaborating and coordinating with stakeholders to contribute to and support initiatives that strengthen the financial literacy of Canadians.

The provision of a national leader focused on long-term initiatives is one of a number of recommendations made by the Task Force on Financial Literacy.
