Defined Contribution Plans Manager

Unitrin, Inc., a publicly traded multi-billion dollar multi-line insurance and consumer finance holding company, is looking for a talented and motivated Defined Contribution Plans Manager to join the HR/Benefits team at our corporate headquarters in downtown Chicago.

The Defined Contribution Plans Manager will work directly with our recordkeeper to manage the administration of our 401(k) Plan, Defined Contribution Retirement Plan, and Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation Plan.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Working to ensure the day-to-day administration is being done in accordance with established procedures
- Continual analysis of Plan statistics to evaluate the quality of the administration.
- Creating appropriate priority levels for vendor related projects
- Reviewing vendor deliverables to ensure high quality work product
- Researching legislation to understand the impact on Plans
- Identifying potential additional services to improve upon the administration of the Plans
- Increasing the visibility of the Plans by being an integral part of developing annual and long term communication plans for the Plans
- Coordinating the annual audits for the Plans
- Working with the vendor to perform all the annual compliance related items (non-discrimination testing, HCE determination, etc.)
- Working with operating company payroll/HR personnel to ensure high quality data is being passed to record keeper
- Interaction with the various corporate Plan Administrative Committees

The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and will have a Bachelor’s degree in a mathematical/accounting related field with a minimum of 7 years of prior corporate experience managing defined contribution plan vendor relationships. A thorough knowledge of current and proposed benefit legislation is required. In addition, strong research, analytical and reporting skills; excellent communication and organizational skills; and proficiency with MS Office products are all highly recommended. Defined Benefit Plan administration experience is a plus.
