EXPERIENCE
THE BROAD INSTITUTE, Cambridge, MA 2008-6/2010 Manager of HR Operations (2009-2010) and Benefits Manager (2008-2009) Initiated, developed and managed comprehensive and competitive employee benefit strategies, policies and plans. Managed support staff. Assured legal compliance in all benefits related matters. Maintained the HRIS system including database integrity and communications with supporting applications. Created reports, metrics, and manipulated data within the HRIS system. Created, interpreted, and applied HR policies. Created and implemented procedures to efficiently manage the day-to-day operations and multi-year HR objectives. Planned and implemented HR initiatives/ special projects, both short and long-term, including new performance review and wellness programs.
• Created benefits, HRIS, and payroll platforms (when Broad Institute diverged from MIT and transitioned into a newly formed non-profit organization). • Created the new organization’s HR policies, procedures, salary structures, and budgets. • As member of senior HR, Legal and IT team, evaluated and selected HRIS and Payroll vendor; led HR Operations and Benefits area for implementation of a new ADP system.
H.P. HOOD, Lynnfield, MA 2006-2008 Director of Benefits, Compensation & HRIS Directed development, planning and management of Benefits, Compensation, and HRIS programs. Managed two HR Managers, one HR Supervisor, and support staff.
• Consolidated three benefit and HRIS platforms (newly acquired companies) into one benefits program and one HRIS platform. Played integral role in consolidation of the payroll platforms. • Created new executive benefit programs. • Consolidated separate merit and bonus programs into one seamless program; created new platform for performance reviews.
CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL, Boston, MA 2001-2006 Human Resources Manager – Benefits Managed the creation, implementation, legal compliance, communication and administration of all benefit programs: welfare, retirement, COBRA, flexible reimbursement accounts, new wellness program, disability and life insurance, and employee benefit services. Managed annual budget of $32M and Benefits staff. Lead role in team responding to identified employee satisfaction issues; ensured integration of Benefits with Employee Relations, Compensation and HRIS, plus HR Policy creation and communication. Managed support staff.
• Negotiated vendor renewals that reduced the projected increase by $2M Children’s Hospital, HR Manager- Benefits (continued) • Successfully managed three DOL audits. • Re-engineered work flow; initiated streamlined new procedures that increased legal compliance at reduced cost. • Strategic involvement in the planning and communication of all recruitment and retention programs. • Successfully managed the benefits department’s transition from the old Cyborg HRIS system to PeopleSoft. Managed several upgrades to PeopleSoft HRIS system. Worked with HRIS to develop new procedures for HR. • Designed and administered new wellness program appropriate to Children’s culture that included alignment of medical plan, incentives, actions that changed behavior, and ongoing monitoring.

Assisted in preparation and monitoring of annual budget of $74M. Managed benefit issues of acquisitions. Managed one HR Supervisor and support staff.
• Created and implemented medical plan initiatives that saved the company $7M in 1999 plan year with little to no adverse employee reaction. • Re-engineered disability plans that saved $1M and streamlined processing. • Created HR Service Center and training material for all locations (shared-services).
