The Department of Labor has awarded the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans with the contract to facilitate the 3 rd National Summit on Retirement Savings. The Summit will be held March 1-2, 2006, in Washington, D.C.
Mandated by the Savings Are Vital to Everyone’s Retirement (SAVER) Act, the 2006 Summit is the third of three national summits. The Summit will be hosted by Elaine L. Chao, U.S. Secretary of Labor, and will be convened by President George W. Bush and co-hosted by leaders of the United States Congress.
The 2006 Summit, whose theme is “ Overcoming Obstacles to Retirement Saving ,” will examine different at-risk groups, such as new entrants to the workforce and workers nearing retirement, and develop blueprints for improving financial savings and literacy.
The International Foundation will assist in both meeting logistics and preparation of background materials. This is the second time the International Foundation has been contracted by the DOL. The Foundation also facilitated the 2nd National Summit held February 27-March 1, 2002.
