The Human Resources Team

The Human Resources (HR) team, comprised of over 50 members, sits in our Berlin, London and New York offices and supports OSF staff across the global network of foundations, in over 40 countries. The team is comprised of generalists spanning the North America, Latin America, Europe, Eurasia, Middle East, Africa, South West Asia, and Asia Pacific regions, as well as HR specialists comprised of Talent Development, Human Resources Information System (HRIS), Compensation & Benefits, Diversity and Inclusion, and Recruitment.

Job Profile

We are seeking a collaborative and innovative Associate Director, Global Compensation and Benefits to set the strategic and operational direction of the global benefits function; develop and implement a benefits governance model; design and implement a global benefits program, ensuring global standardization with local customization, in collaboration with HR generalists; develop and deliver an effective compensation and benefits communication strategy; and provide global oversight of the compensation and benefits programs in each of our jurisdictions. This role will be based in our New York office.

• Define and implement a global benefits governance structure - define global benefits strategy, audit existing benefit plans and operations, define an operating model, implement governance model and review periodically; ensure local HR teams’ understanding of and adherence to global benefits governance framework and guidelines

• Design and implement a global benefits program that is competitive against prevalent market norms in each of our jurisdictions, while ensuring a consistent approach to offering benefits globally; partner with local HR teams to ensure that benefits in each international location align with the global benefits standards, are competitive and compliant within the local market, and are delivered in a cost-effective manner

• Lead the implementation of the Global Benefits Standards in each of our hub and regional offices, working closely with HR generalists and HR focal points

• Evaluate global compensation program and salary structures and recommend changes as appropriate to maintain competitive and equitable compensation levels

• Oversee salary recommendations for new hires, promotions, senior designations, in-range adjustments, acting allowances and other components of the global compensation program

• Oversee benchmark analyses on compensation and benefits, model scenarios and conduct relevant statistical analyses to support decision making; evaluate compensation and benefits in accordance with market practice, benchmarking data, financial considerations, cost projections and the employee value proposition

• Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy for all compensation and benefit plans/policies to increase employee awareness and appreciation of all programs

• Oversee the implementation of new benefits and compensation programs in conjunction with HR generalists

• Coordinate with brokers/vendors on the negotiation of renewals, RFPs, initiate proposals for scalability and improvements in design, administration and cost efficiency; evaluate current and future vendors and manage all aspects of benefits vendor relationships

• Manage local benefit plan reviews and renewals and leverage global vendor relationships

• Evaluates and monitors local benefits brokers and global benefits consultants to ensure appropriate service levels are met; works with local HR teams to monitor in-country benefits vendors, and works with brokers and local HR to replace underperforming vendors when necessary

• Manage the development and implementation of an effective recognition program for the organization

• Support HR generalists by providing solutions to compensation and benefits related challenges

• Assist the Director with management of the global benefits and compensation budgets

• Lead the implementation of Total Cost of Employment reporting in Workday, working with HRIS and local HR teams

• Support HR projects and initiatives as required
Candidate Profile

• 8-10+ years of progressive benefits and compensation responsibility in multinational organizations, leading multiple facets of international compensation and benefits strategy, design and administration across multiple countries, with 2+ years management experience

• Experience conducting RFPs, plan implementations, negotiating, contracting and managing vendors

• Experience in non-profit or foundations is a plus

• Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree in HR preferred

• Certification in benefits and/or compensation preferred 

• Familiarity with Workday (HRIS) preferred

• Strong expertise in compensation and benefits practice, regulatory environments, design, evaluation, and management in multiple countries

• Unparalleled organizational, project management, communication, and customer service skills

• Exceptional leadership, interpersonal and relationship-building skills working with clients and HR colleagues to communicate effectively, build consensus, and establish trust

• Ability to proactively and continually collaborate with clients and colleagues to ensure successful resolution of issues

• Ability to thrive in a fast-changing, high volume and consultative environment

• Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills

• Must be able to travel internationally as required
