Washington D.C. – James A. Klein, president of the American Benefits Council, has been awarded the 2018 Public Service Award by the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans today at the International Foundation's annual Washington Legislative Update. The Public Service Award recognizes individuals for their contributions to the employee benefits industry.

Anyone who has worked with Jim has seen firsthand his dedication to the industry, plan sponsors and participants. He has tremendous respect from his colleagues and peers," said Terry Davidson, CEO of the International Foundation.  "I find the most amazing thing about Jim is his passion, leadership and sense of humor, but maybe most of all is his humility and generosity."

As president of the American Benefits Council, Klein works with the company sponsors of employee benefits, impacting virtually all Americans who have an employer-sponsored plan.  Klein has volunteered with the International Foundation for 28 years.

"To be recognized by the International Foundation, which represents the 'gold standard' in the benefits field, is a great and humbling honor," said Klein. "The International Foundation not only establishes educational excellence, but it is an organization that brings together diverse stakeholders to work for health and retirement security for workers, their families and retirees."

The International Foundation's Washington Legislative Update, held May 21 and 22 at the Capital Hilton, is an annual event that helps keep employee benefit specialists aware of the latest regulatory changes affecting the benefits industry. Participants hear from political and policy insiders on how events in Washington will impact their organizations.
