International Foundation to Host 39th Annual Washington Legislative Update
Employee Benefit Specialists Gather to Understand How Current Legislation Will Affect Industry
Brookfield, WI May 1, 2012— Benefits professionals will learn how the the latest legislative and regulatory changes will impact the American workforce at the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans’ 39th annual Washington Legislative Update May 7-8 at the Capitol Hilton in Washington, DC. Attendees will hear from Washington insiders on how current events, including the upcoming presidential election, will impact the employee benefits industry.
The two-day conference will feature a variety of sessions for guests to attend including:
Jim VandeHei, Co-Founder and Executive Editor, POLITICO, will provide analysis of the fall elections.
Phyllis C. Borzi, J.D., M.A., Assistant Secretary of Labor, Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA), U.S. Department of Labor, will present an overview of the DOL’s regulatory enforcement activities.
Former Congressmen Larry LaRocco (D-ID) and Scott Klug (R-WI) will discuss entitlement reform in Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid with a viewpoint from both sides of the aisle.
Paul S. Hewitt, Vice President, Research, Council for Affordable Health Coverage and Sylvester J. Schieber, Ph.D, will review the generational challenges to achieving a secure retirement and potential solutions. Session will be live-streamed on May 8.
Paul J. Ondrasik, Jr., Partner, Steptoe & Johnson, LLP will review the status of legal challenges to PPACA, including severability, individual mandate and state initiatives.
