Patient Protections (Limits, Preex, Rescissions)

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) includes several provisions that protect health coverage for participants, including lifting restrictions for the essential benefits of their plans, specifically in relation to lifetime and annual coverage limits, preexisting conditions and coverage rescissions. For nongrandfathered plans, there are additional requirements concerning the choice of a primary care physician, direct access to pediatricians and OB/GYNs as well as access and cost sharing for emergency room care.
