ATMS CE Quality Series

ATMS Continuing Education (CE) Quality Series
Conference begins in:

The ATMS Continuing Education (CE) Quality Series provides education exclusively for graduates of the ATMS program who have already earned an ATMS certificate under the current or previous curriculum.

Topic 1: Why Total Health Matters
(Held immediately prior to the Annual Canadian Employee Benefits Conference)

Total health includes physical, mental and financial wellness.  This workshop will focus on the role plan sponsors and trustees play in improving the total health of their members.  This involves engaging their members to help them better understand total health risks.  An evidenced-based model will be introduced to show how data can inform how to best deploy available resources to drive better health outcomes.  Case studies will show the tactics used and highlight the key performance behaviours that lead to improvements in total health.  Attendees will apply what they learn in group decision-making exercises.

Topic 2: Understanding Alternatives
(Held immediately prior to the Canadian Investment Institute)

There are many alternative investment options for pension funds to consider, giving rise to many questions regarding the appropriateness of alternatives in meeting plan objectives. This ATMS CE Quality Series will help trustees understand the role alternatives can play in portfolios and how alternatives may improve outcomes for plan members. Participants will learn from industry experts and apply concepts learned through interactive group discussions and engaging exercises.

Alternative asset classes to be discussed include:

  • Real estate
  • Infrastructure
  • Hedge funds
  • Private equity
  • Private Debt
  • Commodities
  • Timberland
  • Farmland

Benefits of Attending

Trustees play an important role in addressing the health and retirement needs of plan members and need to be confident and competent in that role. ATMS helps trustees build upon their past education and practical experience by focusing on applying the knowledge gained to future decisions through engaging instruction and interactive case studies.
