Prescription Drugs

A growing portion of health care benefit costs come from prescription drugs. Finding the best strategies to promote appropriate use of prescription drugs and manage pharmacy costs is high on the priority list for health benefit plan sponsors. The Foundation offers programs and resources aimed at helping plan sponsors find appropriate drug benefit management techniques.

Federal and State Proposals

Proposals to reduce the cost of prescription drugs include drug importation, pharmacy benefit manager rebates, patents for generics, pharmacists "gag clauses"  and availability of biosimilar drugs.
