The Controller position will build and manage the Corporate Accounting department responsible for tracking the financial transactions of the different organizations that CSAC administers. This position will receive an in-depth hands-on training in the various areas of corporate accounting to ensure full integration in all aspects of overseeing the operations of the department.
Position Functions and Responsibilities
*Manages accounting functions including maintenance of general ledger, accounts payable, payroll and related functions, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, bank deposits, and other related financial procedures.
*Reviews the work of the Senior Accountant and Payroll/AP Supervisor; posts transactions to the general ledger; ensures accuracy of financial statements.
*Develops, implements and maintains accounting-related systems, procedures and policies and metrics to ensure adherence to company guidelines.
*Together with the CFO, develop and periodically adjust performance standards for the Corporate Accounting Department concerning the timing, quality and costs of the department’s work and guide staff to meet those standards.
*Assists in budget preparations and variance reporting.
*Prepares monthly financial statements.
*Manages financial planning and cash requirements.
*Ensures compliance with local, state and federal agencies payroll and other tax reporting regulations.
*Works with department managers on various accounting requirements and procedures.
*Serves as a liaison to various services, such as money managers, consultants, custodians, attorneys, banks, medical providers, etc. relative to accounting and financial issues and requirements.
*Assists in the preparation of schedules for the annual financial audits.
*Promotes an atmosphere of teamwork within the department.
*Ensures that deadlines are met for both internal and external activities.
*Maintains accurate accounting records.
*Other duties and special assignments.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
*At least 5-year experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position in a Taft-Hartley Trust environment.
*Knowledge of accounting and procedures control principles, including GAAP.
*Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
*Ability to use Excel and Word programs proficiently.
*Knowledge of state and federal tax and financial regulations.
*Ability to analyze financial date and prepare financial reports and statements.
*Professional written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills.
*Ability to supervise and motivate staff to produce quality work in the most efficient ways.
