EEOC Issues Notice of Information Collection for Revisions to Pay Data Collection for Large Employers; Comments Due January 9

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) published a notice of information collection for a three-year approval of revisions to streamline and modernize the annual data collection process of the current EEO–1 Component 1 workforce demographic data. Private employers with 100 or more employees and federal contractors with 50 or more employees meeting certain criteria are required to file annual EEO-1 reports.

The proposed revisions to the currently approved EEO–1 Component 1 intend to:

  • Evaluate whether the proposed collection of information is necessary for practical utility
  • Evaluate the accuracy of the estimate of the burden of the proposed collection of information including the validity of the methodology and assumptions used
  • Enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected 
  • Minimize the burden of the collection of information on those who are to respond, including the use of appropriate automated, electronic, mechanical, or other technological collection techniques or other forms of information technology, e.g., permitting electronic submission of responses.

The EEOC intends to submit the revisions to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review.

Comments are due January 9, 2023.
