Union Labor Life Insurance Company is actively recruiting an Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Policy Administration Operations. This person will play a pivotal role in driving the growth, success and compliance and management of our life and health insurance products and services. This position requires a dynamic leader with a strong background in life and health insurance product development, regulatory compliance, market analysis and customer engagement. The AVP, Policy Administration and Operations will oversee and lead operations concerning policy administration, incorporating strategic planning, effective management, and process optimization, for the life and health insurance divisions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead the discovery, design, and development of insurance products and policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product alignment with market demands and company goals.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends and opportunities for product innovation.
  • Manage state-specific regulatory requirements and compliance guidelines.
  • Ensure adherence to insurance laws and regulations across all operational areas.
  • Keeps other departments informed of requirements by researching regulatory and filing information and by writing and communicating guidelines.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of rate manual filings.
  • Collaborate with underwriting and actuarial teams to ensure accurate and timely filings.
  • Work closely with the business and actuarial teams to create, update and maintain, rate, rule and forms for submission to State Departments of Insurance.
  • Ensure company filings are in compliance with state insurance regulations. Oversee Policy filings and respond to any Department of Insurance regulatory questions during filing process, ensuring collaboration with internal departments. Maintains rapport with regulatory personnel.
  • Oversee the product library of approved policy forms.
  • Ensure the product library is up-to-date, compliant, and reflective of market needs.
  • Streamline processes for product documentation and approval.
  • Direct staff dedicated to executing the department's strategic objectives, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge, ensuring staff are well-versed in industry trends, product development processes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Regularly assess team performance, provide constructive feedback, and support career development opportunities to motivate and retain top talent.
  • Diagnose and analyze unique business unit and customer problems.
  • Develop innovative recommendations and solutions to address challenges and drive business growth.
  • Contribute to market-leading product development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with senior management to identify growth opportunities and develop strategic plans.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance market competitiveness and customer satisfaction.
  • Act as a liaison between the company and customers to address inquiries and feedback.
  • Perform other similar and related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance or a related field, Master’s degree is preferred. Seven to ten years of experience in life and health insurance product development, regulatory compliance, market analysis and customer engagement is required. The successful candidate will foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence within the organization. Excellent communication skills are essential for this role.
