Associate Attorney - Employee Benefits

Madison Heights, MI

WPCP is a boutique employee benefits firm, representing pension, annuity, health, apprenticeship, vacation, supplemental unemployment and other funds, including their associated collections programs. We are seeking a full-time attorney with an interest in employee benefits law (ERISA). Candidates should have a commitment to representing unions and workers.

Duties

  • Draft and provide counsel on the plan design for health, defined benefit, defined contribution and other ERISA benefit plans.
  • Handle ERISA compliance matters and other tax related issues.
  • Counsel on matters involving employer delinquencies, employer withdrawal liability and individual participant matters, including litigation.
  • Guide on regulatory matters affecting employee benefits plans.
  • Work collaboratively with other benefit plan professionals.
  • Preparation for client meetings.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and legal research platforms.
  • Self-motivated with a positive outlook.

Experience

  • JD from accredited law school
  • 0-3 years experience
  • Admitted to practice law in Michigan (those awaiting Michigan bar exam results are encouraged to apply)
  • Writing sample requested
