What is the role?
The Senior Disability Case Manager is responsible for managing complex long-term disability (LTD) claims by providing expert assessment and coordination of care to support members through recovery, rehabilitation, and return-to-work processes. In addition to managing a specialized caseload, the Senior Disability Case Manager oversees the delivery of cost-effective, quality outcomes through strategic planning and resource coordination, while also mentoring and supervising case managers and serving as a subject matter expert on LTD plan text, legislation, and best practices. This role plays a critical part in enhancing member outcomes and ensuring efficient, fair, and compassionate claim resolution. The Senior Disability Case Manager resolves case escalations and plays a team leadership role to a team of disability case managers.

What you’ll bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in Disability Management, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Kinesiology, Nursing (RN), Rehabilitation Counseling or related field plus 5+ years of experience in LTD case management, disability claims, or vocational rehabilitation along with experience leading and mentoring a small team.
  • Certified Disability Management Profession (CDMP), Return to Work Disability Manager (RTWDM), or Group Benefit Associate (GBA) designation would be an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with members, employees at all organizational levels and with officials of other organizations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in medical terminology and medical report review and interpretation.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with attention to details.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in case management systems.
