The Pension & Benefit Services department provides personalized service delivery for members and their beneficiaries along with services for employers through the administration of the Pension, Healthcare & Dental and Life Insurance Plans.
Role Profile
Reporting to the CEO, as the Vice President, Pension & Benefit Services, you are a key member of the Executive Management Committee. Together the executive collaborate to achieve the organization’s strategic goals and initiatives.
As the senior leader, you are responsible for the strategic direction, planning, and development of the Pension & Benefit Services department. You will foster a professional customer focused environment to ensure effective personalized service delivery to members and employers. You will develop your direct reports through hands-on mentorship and coaching and provide career development opportunities through growth assignments and educational opportunities.
You will collaborate with the CEO to strengthen stakeholder relations and implement strategies to educate and support our stakeholder groups. In addition to representing the organization through your working relationships with external stakeholders, you will also do so where applicable with the Boards of Trustees and Committees of the Boards.
Monitoring operational performance metrics for alignment with the organizational vision is another key focus and you will report on these metrics and other matters to the Board of Trustees and to the Committees of the Board.
A crucial part of this role is to ensure compliance with all applicable legislation through ongoing development, monitoring and maintenance of policies and procedures.
Analysis to identify improvement and innovation opportunities is ongoing and you will keep current with industry trends to support enhancements of our service offerings. You will lead change management initiatives as the scope of the department continues to move forward with the implementation of new and expanding initiatives that will support our efficacy in meeting the evolving needs of our members and employer stakeholder groups.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10 + years’ experience in progressively more responsible leadership roles managing all aspects of pension and/or benefits plan administration including: plan design, cost containment, plan communications, and developing direct reports.
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Actuarial Studies or other related fields along with the PPAC and/or CEBS designation(s).
- An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
- Demonstrated business acumen with proven critical and strategic thinking skills to effectively address big picture and complex challenges with a stakeholder service focus.
- Exceptional business communication skills with the ability to quickly establish credibility and develop strong relationships to effectively influence, partner and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience with the preparation and presentation of key reports to a Board of Trustees/Directors would be considered an asset.
- Skilled at navigating shifting priorities in a dynamic environment and familiar with the key principles of change management.
- Establishing a team culture of accountability and continuous professional development is second nature.
