Employee Benefits in a COVID-19 World – Six-Month Update
Survey Report

In November 2020, the International Foundation surveyed U.S. organizations to examine the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic on their employee benefit plans. The report, Employee Benefits in a COVID-19 World—Six-Month Update, is a follow-up to a similar survey conducted in April 2020 that addressed changes to retirement plans, health care offerings, benefit trends, and workforce staffing levels.

This edition examines new topics including:

  • Actions taken with defined benefit (DB) pension plans
  • Change in participants taking DC plan hardship withdrawals and loans
  • Changes in number of health care claims
  • Utilization of EAP/LAP Services
  • Changes in paid/unpaid leave benefits
  • Changes made to staffing levels
  • Percentage of workers working remotely
  • Reimbursement for remote working expenses
