What are multiemployer trust funds, and how do they make purchasing decisions?
Most common in the construction, retail, trade, trucking, hotel, service and entertainment industries, multiemployer trust funds ensure employees have benefits coverage despite switching employers often. Funds are established through collective bargaining and are arranged by industry on a local, regional or national level. They are governed by a board of trustees that has the authority to purchase benefit goods and services for the fund.
