I currently serve Taft-Hartley pension, health and welfare funds as a professional trustee, independent fiduciary, consultant, and expert witness in ERISA cases.

Designations/Certifications and Other Training/Education

My academic credentials are as follows: B.A., M.A. J.D., and LL.M. I have served as a Member, and then Chair, of the ERISA Advisory Committee by appointment of the U.S. Secretary of Labor. I was a member and then served as chair of several IF Committees, including the Attorneys Committee, Arbitration Committee, and Plan Professionals Committee.

Fund Experience

For over 44 years, I practiced employee benefits law with the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation and then with two prominent law firms. As legal counsel, I represented over 50 Taft-Hartley multiemployer pension and welfare plans, as well as single-employer plans, and their plan fiduciaries. When I retired from the practice of law in 2024, I founded Counsel Advisors Inc., a full-service consulting firm, through which I serve as a professional trustee, independent fiduciary, consultant, and expert witness in employee benefit plan litigation and arbitration proceedings. I am currently working with 2 dozen multiemployer plans in various capacities.

I have been involved in IF activities for over 40 years. I have served on various IF committees, spoken at numerous conferences, authored many articles, taught in the CEBS program, and served as a peer advisor.
