Ms. Shaw is the managing partner of Soshent Partners, a health care and employer
benefits consulting firm based in Paso Robles, CA. In her consulting work, she helps
plan sponsors navigate the complexities of health care delivery and financing so that
purchasers can provide the best possible health and welfare benefits at the lowest
possible cost. Ms. Shaw has served as lead consultant on a number of large health
benefit plan projects. Her previous work includes strategy, health care cost containment, plan design, wellness initiatives, retiree medical design, vendor performance
management and bids. Dee has led teams for Taft-Hartley, Major, National and Large
Group initiatives. Drawing on her broad background and extensive strong client focused experience, Ms. Shaw offers innovative practical strategies and solutions that
deliver desired results. Prior to Soshent Partners, she was associate vice president
(AVP) of employer engagement and strategy at City of Hope in Los Angeles. In this
leadership role, Ms. Shaw was responsible for employer initiatives, including exploration, expansion and development of business opportunities and partnerships with
plan sponsors for the provision of cancer care. Before joining City of Hope, she was a
senior health care consultant based in Los Angeles. Ms. Shaw has more than 30 years
of experience in the health care and benefit consulting marketplace, including Watson
Wyatt (now Willis Towers Watson), where she was the health and group benefits office
practice leader as well as a senior consultant at Horizon Actuarial Services. She has
also served as vice president of special accounts at Kaiser Permanente and the regional vice president of commercial and large accounts at Health Net. Ms. Shaw has
spoken at the International Foundation Health Care Management Conference and the
Annual Employee Benefits Conference and is on the faculty of the New Trustees Institute. She was the keynote speaker at the Southern California Association of Benefit
Plan Administrators meeting titled “Retiree Health: Care Cost Saving Solutions.”
Ms. Shaw’s article, “Delivering Participant Value in an ACA World” was featured in the
International Foundation October 2015 issue of Benefits Magazine. She has also
served on the executive committee of a nonprofit community health center in downtown Los Angeles. Ms. Shaw holds a bachelor of science degree from the University
of Iowa and is a graduate of the Advanced Leadership Program at the University of
North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School.
