Workplace wellness programs in the U.S. and Canada have grown to include benefits that address workers' mental health, financial health, growth and purpose. Workplace Wellness and Financial Education Programs: 2025 Survey Report reveals details about current initiatives and insights into the changing needs of employees as well as the growing importance of wellbeing and financial stability, covering personal factors impacted by financial challenges, impact on work performance and solutions through financial education.
The report addresses the following questions:
- What are the top two reasons employers offer wellness initiatives? The most common reasons are to improve the overall health and well-being of employees (62% in the U.S. and 73% in Canada) and control or reduce health-related costs (28% and 22%).
- What are the most common barriers to wellness initiatives? The top barriers to offering wellness programs in the U.S and Canada are workers’ difficulty finding time to participate (33% and 35% respectively), prohibitive initiative costs (32% and 26%), and lack of dedicated wellness budget (21% and 35%).
- What are employer goals for providing financial education? Goals include increasing workers’ ability to manage their money, improving worker retirement and investment decisions, and improving their understanding of current benefits.
- What are the most common performance issues from employers who are facing financial challenges? Employers identified impacts on mental health, presenteeism or the inability to focus on work, morale and absenteeism or tardiness.
