About the Role
Ironworkers Local 207 is seeking a highly organized and self-motivated Administrative Manager to lead its Fund Office. This is a "working manager" position, serving as the sole full-time employee responsible for the daily operations and administration of two primary funds: a Pension Fund (Defined Benefit) and an Annuity Fund (Defined Contribution).
The ideal candidate is a disciplined professional who enjoys working independently and can navigate the complexities of ERISA/Taft-Hartley multiemployer benefit plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Fund Administration: Process monthly employer remittances, fringe benefits, and reciprocal contributions. Manage participant and pensioner records, including work history and demographic data.
- Benefit Management: Calculate pension benefits; review and approve applications for retirement, death benefits, annuity loans, and hardship withdrawals.
- Financial & Compliance: Maintain financial records via QuickBooks. Oversee payroll, tax reporting (local, state, federal), and pension withholdings. Assist auditors with annual audits and Form 5500/8955-SSA filings.
- Trustee Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for the Board of Trustees. Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, and quarterly financial reports. Coordinate with professional advisors (attorneys, actuaries, auditors, and investment consultants).
- Office Operations: Manage office insurance policies (bonding, fiduciary liability). Coordinate with the Union Business Manager on delinquent employer collections and work status updates.
- Member Service: Provide clear, professional communication to participants, retirees, and their families regarding their benefits and applications.
Required Skills & Qualities
- Independence: Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and execute a complex workflow while working alone.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in MS Office (Excel/Word) and QuickBooks. Ability to master proprietary pension software (Bridgeway/ISSI).
- Attention to Detail: Absolute accuracy in data entry, financial calculations, and application of Fund rules is essential.
- Communications: Excellent verbal and written skills for interacting with members, union leadership, and professional vendors.
- Industry Knowledge: Prior experience with ERISA, Taft-Hartley plans, or Union Fund administration is a significant plus. A willingness to pursue continuing education (IFEPB) is encouraged.
- Bachelor’s degree or comparable relevant experience is preferred.
