We are a Union Fund Office servicing Ironworkers in the New Jersey and Philadelphia areas.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Benefits Analyst to support our Health & Welfare Funds. The ideal candidate will have strong claims-processing skills, excellent customer service abilities, and high attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Process a variety of claims (Medical, Prescription, Hearing, HRA, Life Insurance, Death Benefit, Disability, etc.) for two Health Funds.
- Provide Customer Service support to Participants and Providers — including phone, in-person, fax, and email inquiries regarding eligibility, coordination of benefits, and claim status.
- Manage Disability Claims — process short-term and long-term disability requests, request updated medical documentation, track participant eligibility and work status, update Excel logs, coordinate with Medical Consultant, and process weekly disability checks.
- Process weekly and monthly benefit checks and EOBs for participants and providers.
- Handle incoming W-9 forms from providers (mail/fax) and enter them into company software.
- Review monthly reinstatement and new-hire reports; prepare and mail enrollment packets.
- Maintain participant files, including filing confidential documents and updating change-of-address information.
- Process beneficiary updates, enrollment documentation, and maintain member and dependent information in internal systems and vendor portals.
- Process Life Insurance/Death Benefit notifications, claims, and payments.
- Process reciprocities — request and send hours for participants working out of territory.
- Manage HRA enrollments, benefits processing, and eligibility updates.
- Handle monthly COBRA notifications and payment processing.
- Process checks for the purchase of member hours/credits.
- Assist Fund Managers and other departments with annual mailings and various projects.
Job Requirements
- 3+ years of strong customer service and benefit communication experience
- 3+ years of health benefits and claims processing experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills with strong confidentiality practices
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Additional Information
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus but not required
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–4:30 PM (35 hours/week), In Office
Potential: 1 remote day per week - Must pass a drug test and background check
