Benefits Manager

Are you a detail-driven leader with a passion for precision, data integrity, and member service excellence? We’re seeking a highly analytical and solutions-oriented Benefits Manager to oversee the administration of pension benefits and ensure the accuracy of member data within our pension administration system. This role is pivotal in delivering timely, accurate benefits to our members and driving operational excellence across the Member Services team.

As the Benefits Manager, you’ll supervise a team of Benefits Specialists and a Benefits Coordinator, serve as a key liaison between internal departments and external partners, and step in for the Director of Member Services when needed. This is a high-impact role that demands critical thinking, data fluency, and a proactive mindset.

Duties

  • Oversee and validate all changes to monthly benefit payments, including direct deposits, address updates, 1099-Rs, and PROP adjustments.
  • Run and reconcile monthly reports to ensure payment accuracy and resolve discrepancies swiftly.
  • Coordinate and review data integrity across the pension administration system; collaborate with payroll and HR to ensure accurate member records.
  • Lead retirement and DROP counseling sessions, ensuring members are well-informed and supported.
  • Manage the administration of lump sum and periodic payments, working closely with senior staff.
  • Review and implement Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs), ensuring compliance and timely execution.
  • Partner with the Systems Engineer to verify DROP and PROP balances and maintain accurate reporting.
  • Facilitate benefits presentations for new cadets and support members applying for Disability Pensions.
  • Lead special projects that enhance service delivery, system functionality, and member experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (Business major preferred) OR 7+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Pension benefits experience strongly preferred
  • CEBS designation a plus
  • Demonstrated strength in analytical thinking, data reconciliation, and process improvement
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and foster trust with members and colleagues
