Fund Administrator

Will lead the 100 person Fringe Benefit Funds team which is dedicated to providing elite health and pension services to members and retirees. The Fund Administrator will work closely with and report to the Board of Trustees while managing a 100 employee team. Responsibilities include managing multi-billion retirement funds, health and welfare benefits. Core Responsibilities

  • Continuous Improvement: Leading all FBF team members to seek, investigate and implement industry leading, innovative enhancements to benefit offerings and the tools/processes used to provide them.
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure all activities adhere to federal regulations (ERISA), plan documents, and trust agreements.
  • Board Support: Prepare, organize, and attend Board of Trustee meetings.
  • Maintain accurate participant data.
  • Ensure accurate administration of all benefits for plan participants.
  • Contribution & Claims Management: Oversee employer contribution collections, payroll audits, and claims processing and the appeals process.
  • Financial Oversight: Monitor fund financial matters, including reviewing investments and managing operational expenses.
  • Relationship Management:
    • Act as the primary contact for union representatives, employers, and legal/investment advisors.
    • Negotiate collective bargaining agreements for Fund Office staff.
    • Partner with Human Resources to address and resolve staff complaints/grievances.
    • Partner with Human Resources to develop and implement training for Fund Office staff to expand knowledge/skills and ensure professional growth.
  • Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with administrative, operational, and regulatory procedures for administration of the Funds.
    • Consult with outside professionals (e.g., auditors, attorneys, actuaries, investment managers, etc.) on compliance matters/requirements as needed.

Job Qualifications and Skills

  • Analytical Skills: High attention to detail for handling sensitive data, auditing, and financial reporting.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA and/or CEBS certification preferred.
  • Seven or more years’ experience in benefit plan administration (health and welfare and/or pension plans) or relevant related experience.
  • Ten or more years of managerial experience required.
  • Experience in Taft-Hartley benefit administration.
  • Solid knowledge of employee benefit plans, ERISA, HIPAA and other related governmental/legislative regulations.
  • Proficiency with current technology and Microsoft Office products.

  • Ability to hire, develop and direct Fund Office staff in the areas of technical operations and employee benefit administration.
  • Dedication to providing service for the hard-working members.
