The Teamsters Local 688 Healthcare Fund managed under St. Louis Labor Healthcare Network, located in St. Louis, MO, is currently seeking an Assistant Administrator reporting directly to the Administrative Manager. The Fund Office provides healthcare benefits, administrative services and support to a multiemployer Plan.

The Assistant Administrator has day-to-day responsibility for processing routine benefit requests and eligibility updates and for providing customer service to the Fund’s participants and beneficiaries regarding eligibility and benefits. The Assistant Administrator will also be responsible for processing employer contribution reports and payments, managing delinquent employers and providing support for the other Fund Office functions. The successful candidate is a disciplined professional who enjoys working independently and can navigate the complexities of ERISA/Taft-Hartley multiemployer benefit plans and who will ensure prompt and accurate delivery of benefits and information to participants and beneficiaries by email, phone and in person. He or she will demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to resolve routine problems with minimal supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES

General responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Employer Contribution Processing: Perform day-to-day activities related to the processing of employer contributions; Post employer contribution reports and reconcile employer payments, ensuring prompt deposit of payments; Manage delinquent employer contributions and missing participant data.
  • Data and Systems Vendor Management: Work with Basys, the benefits administration system vendor, to implement automated processes to improve administrative effectiveness. Track incorrect addresses and search for missing participants.
  • Customer Service Support: Answer and document participant, beneficiary and employer inquiries related to the Healthcare Fund; Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence with plan participants, beneficiaries, and employers.
  • General Office and Clerical Support: Create process documents for day-to-day activities performed by all Fund Office staff; Assist Administrative Manager in handling information requests from the Fund’s Attorneys, Auditors and Actuaries as needed; Perform clerical duties (typing, writing letters, scanning, filing, faxing etc.) as well as other related duties and special projects assigned; Assist in sending out annual mandated notices to participants, including stuffing, posting and mailing; Assist in organizing and taking minutes for board meetings. Provide back-up support for all Fund Office functions and staff as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Taft-Hartley benefit administration and claims processing, or other related experience preferred.
  • Special Skills or Credentials: Proficiency in MS Office (Excel/Word) and QuickBooks. Ability to master proprietary Eligibility/Contribution software (Bridgeway/Basys).
  • Experience in Taft-Hartley, collective bargaining or Fund Office environment a plus; The ideal candidate will also be detail oriented and highly organized, have strong analytical skills, have the ability to interpret plan rules and regulations, have excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills, be able to multi-task and prioritize effectively in order to meet deadlines.

SALARY RANGE: $68K - $85K/YEAR SALARIED
RETIREMENT: 5% LHN CONTRIBUTION TO 401(K)
VACATION TIME: 2 WEEKS
SICK TIME: 2 WEEKS; CAN BANK EACH YEAR, BUT ONLY PAID OUT ON TERMINATION IF VOLUNTARY WITH 60 DAY NOTICE AND PAYOUT IS CAPPED AT 30 DAYS
