Benefits Analyst and Documentation Specialist

Health, Welfare & Insurance Fund Teamsters Union Local 653 (“HWI653”) is seeking a Benefits Analyst and Documentation Specialist reporting directly to the Office Manager. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable of a Taft-Hartley Fund’s operations and has experience with ISSI or BASYS technology platforms, maintaining and tracking electronic records for employer contributions, processing of COBRA, eligibility and disability claims and analyzing claims. Must be a team-oriented professional who actively collaborates with co-workers and fosters a supportive environment.
The Benefits Analyst and Documentation Specialist will work under the direction of the Office Manager, while working closely with the Benefits Coordinator to ensure HWI653 members and their dependents receive best-in-class service and there is continuity in adhering to policies/procedures, relevant statutes and regulations, including HIPAA, ERISA and DOL.
This is currently a part-time in-office position, 24 hours per week, Wednesday through Friday 8:00-4:00; an alternative in-office schedule within business hours may be considered. Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Analyze monthly claims and prepare monthly analysis for the Office Manager;
- Crosstrain for Benefits Specialist position;
- Periodically audit HWI653 operations to ensure compliance with the administration of the plan;
- Maintain policies, procedures and compliance manuals;
- Assist in submission of government mandated forms and data;
- Work with Bridgeway Benefit Technologies to resolve issues and documentation thereof;
- Must maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive financial and Protected Health Information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Education and Work Experience: Associates degree or 5 years’ experience in processing health benefits for a Taft-Hartley Fund and Certificate through IFEBP preferred
- Must be detail oriented and organized;
- Provide at least 2 professional references;
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
- Proficiency with Microsoft365;
- Comprehensive understanding of the regulatory environment.
Special Skills or Credentials:
- Experience with ISSI or BASYS technology platforms.
Salary Range:
- $34,000-$37,440: salary is negotiable to commensurate with experience or formal education
