Fund Administrator

The New Orleans Employers – International Longshoremen’s Association, AFL-CIO Pension, Welfare, Vacation and Holiday Funds are seeking a Plan Administrator who reports to a Board of Trustees governing several multiemployer benefit funds.
The Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Funds and the management of eight Fund office employees. The Administrator works closely with the Board of Trustees, unions, contributing employers as well as Fund service providers including Fund counsel, investment consultants and managers, actuarial consultants, and other Plan professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure accounting and reporting practices are accurate and compliant with Plan policy and law
- Manage a staff of four main office employees and four field office employees
- Maintain the Funds’ benefit and eligibility administration system and cybersecurity measures to ensure that Plan participant needs are met and eligibility is accurate
- Oversee the Funds financial administration including coordinating the Funds year end audits
- Communicate Plan provisions to Fund employees, Plan participants, unions, employers and other Plan service providers
- Develop communication materials for Plan participants and employers
- Coordinate and prepare materials for Board of Trustees meetings
- Consult and communicate with Fund professionals on a regular basis
- Advise Plan participants of their retirement options including retiree health benefits
- Process employer contributions
Qualifications
- 5 to 7 years of pension and benefits administration experience, ideally in a multiemployer plan
- University degree in business or a related field is required
- Knowledge of pension and health plan administration and compliance is preferred including familiarity with ERISA, HIPAA, and other governmental regulations
- Strong work ethic and communication skills; must be able to professionally interact with Fund employees, Trustees, union representatives, contributing employers, participants, and Fund professionals
- Certification in pension and benefits administration is considered an asset, e.g. Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), CPA, or other relevant professional designation
Pay $140,000 to $170,000 commensurate with experience
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana - in office position - not a remote position
