Spiritual Well-Being in the Workplace

Spiritual health is an important dimension of individual well-being, as well as a cornerstone of mental health. But what does this mean for organizations? Does spiritual health impact the workplace? Is it appropriate to include in your mental health strategy? Topics will include:

  • A definition of spiritual health, which embraces a broad range of well-being practices and includes values, relationships and purpose
  • What distinguishes spirituality from organized religion
  • Important research that supports addressing spirituality both in the workplace and in other parts of your life
  • Addressing historical and cultural practices related to spiritual health such as psychedelics

Attendees will be able to:

  • Explain the relationship between mental health and spiritual health
  • Understand how an individual’s spiritual well-being impacts their experience at work
  • Identify opportunities to support spiritual well-being at work.

Gambling addiction has increased since the landmark 2018 Supreme Court decision cleared a path for states to legalize sports betting. It is a significant public health concern in Canada and the United States. Topics will include:

  • The financial impact and business case for addressing it in your organization
  • Consequences for individuals, families and communities
  • Paths for treatment
  • Best practices for plan sponsors.

Environmental disasters are increasing in prevalence and severity, and as a result, seriously impact the public’s mental health. What do organizations need to know to address this issue? Topics will include:

  • The impact on first responders, both physically and mentally
  • Climate anxiety and mental health
  • Generational perspectives
  • Future outlook
  • How workplaces and individuals can be stewards of the earth.

  • Explain the relationship between mental health and environmental disasters
  • Explore the direct and indirect impact environmental disasters have on our workforce
  • Identify opportunities to support those affected by environmental disasters at work.
